"Finding quality care for my two Yorkshire Terriers has always been a problem. Sometimes I would even change daily plans to avoid leaving them. It was not until I found Paws over Santa Barbara that I could feel confident about leaving my pets in the care of someone else. They truly seem to understand the special needs of my dogs. After each visit from PAWS I have found my dogs happy and spirited. There is no doubt in my mind that PAWS is providing the very best care for my pets."

    Q. What does the initial consultation entail?
    A. One of our pet professionals will come to your home to meet you and your pet. We will learn you and your pet's routine through information you provide us and some "get to know you" playtime with your pet. This will provide you the opportunity to become familiar with our pet sitters. We know it's no fun having a total stranger in your house which is why we always require this step in our services. We will answer any questions you may have about our services and make you feel as comfortable as possible about leaving your loved one in our care. If you choose to use our services, we will have you fill out some necessary paperwork and arrange to get a key to your residence. The paperwork can be filled out ahead of time by downloading these documents. Finally, we will schedule our first visit with your pet. Keep in mind that you are under no obligation from this consultation.

    Q. How do you keep my house key safe?
    A. Keys are numbered and locked up in our office. When a sitter is ready to utilize the key, it is signed out for.

    Q. What kind of animals do you care for?
    A. We believe in equal opportunities for all animals. We'd love to take care of your dog, cat, bird, pig, guinea pig, hamster, lizard, fish, spider, or anything that walks, crawls or slithers. Our only exception is that we cannot (for liability reasons) take care of any animal who has a history of biting, fighting, or being just plain mean.

    Q. Are you bonded and insured?
    A. Yes! All of our pet professionals are bonded through Travelers Casualty and Surety Company of America with Certificate Number 0 25 BY 103213028 BCM7086 and insured through Century Insurance Group with Policy Number 01CCP 279188-02608.

    Q. Do you administer medication to pets?
    A. Yes. We will administer medication (pills, drops, ointments, and injectables) at no additional charge.

    Q. What happens if my pet gets sick or in a medical emergency while I'm away?
    A. Your pet will closely monitored for signs of illness or injury. In case of an emergency, every effort will be made to use your regular family vet. Sometimes this is not possible (due to location or time of day) therefore your pet will be transported to a preselected emergency animal clinic in your area for treatment and you will be notified immediately.

    Q. How much notice do you need for pet sitting?
    A. We try to accommodate your life schedule as much as possible. As such, we ask that you schedule your pet sitting as soon as possible. This is especially true around the holidays.

    Q. I didn't get my question answered. Can I ask you?
    A. Of course! Please call or write with you questions at any time!
